What is Erbium Glass Laser?
Treatment details:
The Erbium Laser delivers a laser beam divided into thousands of tiny columns of heat fired deep into the skin in a precise grid pattern. This heat transforms the lower layer of skin tightening and plumping the skin. Some laser energy is absorbed on the surface into pigmentation which would be improving uneven skin colouration.
It triggers the body’s natural healing process encouraging collagen and elastin regeneration, which results in firmer, fresher, and younger-looking skin from the inside out. The healing process works to reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles, scarring and texture imperfections.
You should see an immediate difference in your treated skin. Depending on the laser treatment, your skin may stay pink or red for a few months. Your skin may continue to improve for up to a year, and the improvement may last for several years. The natural aging process will eventually lead to new wrinkles, which can be treated with further laser resurfacing when required. To extend the treatment results, you should avoid the sun as much as possible and apply sunscreen every day.
A consultation with one of our clinical practitioners is the first step to assess if you are a suitable candidate for this treatment.
First some eye guards are placed to protect the eyes, then the laser is fired around the treatment area in a grid pattern and a cooling device is used to cool the skin. The treatment is very comfortable and fast and most treatments can be completed in around 10 minutes.
This treatment is the ideal lunchtime rejuvenate treatment that delivers soft, dewy, plump youthful skin with the absolute minimum of discomfort, both during and after.
The ideal candidate for Erbium Glass Laser resurfacing has a lighter skin tone and wishes to target localised areas of wrinkles around the mouth or eyes. Erbium Glass Laser is perfect for someone with mild to moderate lines and sun damage who would prefer an easier recovery than CO2 laser ablation.
It is normal to experience swelling after laser skin resurfacing. Sleeping on an extra pillow at night can help ease swelling. Placing an ice pack on the treated area also helps in the first 24 to 48 hours after laser resurfacing. You may feel itching or stinging for 12 to 72 hours after the procedure. Five to seven days after laser resurfacing, your skin will become dry and peel.
Following the laser procedure, the doctor will bandage the treated area. Starting 24 hours after treatment, you will need to clean the treated area four to five times daily. Then you will need to apply an ointment, such as Vasoline, to prevent scabs from forming. This wound care is required to avoid any scab formation. In general, the treated areas heal in 10 to 21 days, depending on the treated condition.
We recommend drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure is a must. Wearing sunscreen of at least SPF 30+ is essential, along with protective clothing and a wide-brimmed hat to protect the skin from sun exposure.
Like most laser resurfacing procedures, the results from the treatment are relatively long-term. The natural aging process will eventually lead to new wrinkles, which can be treated with further laser resurfacing when required. To extend the treatment results, you should avoid the sun as much as possible and apply sunscreen every day.
