Radio frequency scar reduction is used for repairing, healing and reducing visibility of surgical scars, stretch marks and acne scars. Radio frequency is an excellent modality used in combination with modalities such as CO2 laser therapy, in order to achieve maximum improvements.

Treatment details:

All scars, including acne scars, are tough patches of thick and damaged connective tissue. RF technology heats the treatment area to encourage tissue remodelling and stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin. Radiofrequency energy is effective in breaking down scars.

Radiofrequency uses radio waves to deliver heat energy into specific layers of the skin, protecting the top layers. The collagen is broken down and remodelled into its new, smoother appearance. Over time, the appearance of scars improves.

Although you will likely see a noticeable improvement in your skin after your first treatment, most people experience optimal improvement over 3-5 treatments, with 4-6 weeks recommended between sessions. The collagen remodelling process is not instantaneous. Since many of the benefits appear after the treatment, it can take several months for the most significant results of your Radiofrequency treatment to show. Some patients report seeing gradual, ongoing improvement for up to a year. The benefits of this treatment are long-lasting.

A local anaesthetic cream is applied a minimum of 30 minutes before the procedure. In some situations, local anaesthetic may be injected. Your clinical practitioner will move the handpiece across the treatment area in a stamping pattern. Most patients feel mild or no discomfort.

Treatments can last 10-45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
Any area can be treated, but it is especially effective in following areas: face, neck, around the mouth and eyes, décolletage and hands.
Most clients find this treatment tolerable and report a ‘prickling’ sensation followed by a ‘sting’. This can be uncomfortable in sensitive areas such as around the eyes.

Radiofrequency is delivered using minimally invasive microneedles which are injected to a controlled depth into the scar, heat is then applied.

This treatment is suitable for any skin type, including most darker skin types.

Most clients experience redness, warmth and mild stinging in the area for a few hours to 1-3 days post treatment.
Clients will be provided with detailed and step-by-step instructions specific to your requirements on the post-care to achieve the best possible results. We recommend that you wear an SPF on the area to be treated.
