A thread lift is a minimally invasive treatment that works by physically inserting hooked threads into the sub-dermal layers of your skin to latch onto and lift your skin into a higher, tighter position. This treatment is performed by making a small incision to insert barbed PDO (Polydioxanone) sutures into your skin. The threads will not be visible beneath your skin.

One of the most beneficial elements of this treatment is that the material of the threads used for this treatment will help your body generate new collagen. The collagen will form around each of the threads inserted into your skin to help maintain the lifting results, and help your results look natural and last longer.

Thread lift treatments result in an instant and natural-looking improvement in the appearance of the skin. Over the subsequent weeks, results will continue to improve, peaking at around nine months and lasting for up to 2 years as your body produces collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. The thread itself is completely biodegradable and dissolves within one and a half to two years, after which new collagen has formed around the threads to continue to support results, maintaining a smooth and supple texture of the skin.

Most people can expect the results of this treatment to last for 18 months to three years, depending on certain factors. Your age, skin condition, and the number of threads used for your treatment are all relevant factors that may impact how long your results last.

Alcohol and a topical anesthetic will be applied to your skin as it’s prepped for the treatment. A thin needle will be used to insert the threads underneath your skin. Inserting the threads can take 30 to 45 minutes. After the threads are inserted, the method of insertion will be removed. You may feel slight pressure or tightening under your skin. After removing the needles, your procedure will be complete within a few minutes, and you’ll be free to go home or back to work.

The whole treatment process takes less than 45 minutes. 

Like a facelift, you can use this treatment on virtually all areas of the face to correct mild to moderate aging concerns. The most common treatment areas include drooping eyebrows, skin laxity in the cheeks, loose jowls, or sagging skin on the neck. You can take years off your overall appearance by lifting and tightening these areas of skin.

During the procedure, the clinician will apply a topical anesthetic. You may experience sensations, pulses, and mild pain. Your skin may feel warm and appear red, swollen, or sunburned. After a thread lift, it’s not uncommon to experience bruising, swelling, bleeding and pain at the site of the thread injection.

The best candidates for this treatment are people experiencing early facial aging or showing signs of mild aging. These signs can include mild to moderate skin laxity, particularly in the middle of the face, and fine lines and wrinkles around the nose, mouth, and chin. Most of the time, candidates for this treatment are between the age of 30 and 55.

This treatment does not have an extensive recovery period. Most patients can return to work or their usual activities after the treatment. There are not many restrictions during your recovery period, aside from avoiding direct sunlight, strenuous activity, and excessive heat or sweating. We also recommend you refrain from rubbing your face vigorously and avoid sleeping on your side in the initial weeks following the procedure.

During your recovery period, you may be instructed to use cold compresses. We advise patients to sleep with their heads and shoulders elevated during the first three to four days after the treatment. Clients should avoid roughly touching or scrubbing their face during the recovery period. You may also be advised to avoid certain skincare products, like chemical exfoliants or retinoids.
